TWO PEOPLE WERE BURNT IN MDANTSANE


Two people have badly burnt to death in the early hours of Sunday in a shack in Lilian Ngoyi Park in Mdantsane.

It is allegedly said that the two were from a nearby tavern when they came home to cook. An eye witness has said that they fell asleep while they were still cooking.

It is not known yet on how the fire started and was able to reach to them ,the whole shack was burnt in ashes.A family member of one of the deceased has said that they are not aware yet of what happened but they will accept the situation and try to prepare for the funeral. The family further explained that they were woken up by the calls from the Lillian Ngoyi residents telling them about the incident.
The community members are still in shock of the incident as they suspect that the cause might be the illegal electricity connections. 

The forensic team has taken the bodies and further investigation is to be conducted.

EAST BANK FORCED REMOVALS

The furious residents of East Bank have badly burnt RDP houses belonging to some of the residents in the area, who are mostly black people and few of the Coloureds.

According to a source it is allegedly said that the residents of the East Bank were told to temporary stay in shacks, and register in  order for them to get the RDP houses .Most residents registered and some never wanted to stay in shacks and they never registered for the houses.

It is said that Coloureds residents invaded houses that were not meant for them and they were given  notice to vacate the houses.
According to the source , the municipality was forced to remove them after their failure to vacate the houses. Some of the residents threw stones and allegedly burnt the houses. As the result of this, the residents are now fighting with each other as the allegedly rightfully owners intervened in forcefully removing the residents.`` The police are firing rubber bullets at us, they say they are here to check but but they are not doing anything``, said the source.

The Ward councillor, Ms Ayanda Mapisa has said that they are currently having meetings with the leaders of the residents to resolve the situation.
It is allegedly said that the situation in East Bank is currently better as the police are watching the area.
